Front Crowns
The left picture shows two older front crowns where recession has occurred and the metal underlying structure is showing through giving an appearance of a black line near the gum line. The patient then bleached, and the dark lines where dropped below the gum line for a healthier and more cosmetic smile.
Switching Metal Fillings
Although silver has traditionally been the material of choice for filling cavities, tooth colored composite has its own advantages including a highly esthetic result. These two pictures show a before and after of a common procedure of switching the older metal fillings out for new bonded tooth colored fillings. The procedure from start to finish takes about a half an hour and is typically covered by insurance. Most of the fillings in our office are done with these high end tooth colored composites.
Fun
with Dentistry
Dentistry can
show its artistic side with a little imagination.
Good communication with a top notch lab can produce
endless possibilities. In the picture shown,
the Beauty and the Beast princess Belle was hand
painted on a Porcline crown before it was cemented
in place. Belle
is 5mm x 5mm which is smaller than a Tic-tac.
